OH, batshit is not even close.

Imagine the joy a parent has when their child comes home and can READ at the level of their classmates... because an AmeriCorp Member spent hours working with them in an area where the community cannot afford extra teachers? Check out the amazing work the Washington Reading Corp does...oh, yeah, government propaganda. Our government wants us to be literate. Oh, the horror.

Hmm, yeah, that much lower than minimum wage stipend to allow the participants to understand in a very real way the plight of many of the folks they are helping. And done willingly.

so what's the going rate for a congresswoman these days? Perhaps the law should be changed to disallow pay for public service. Then we could respect those folks....
